Carol Ose-Diehl, DVM

Veterinarian, Owner

Dr. Carol graduated with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree form Kansas State University in 1986. After graduation she worked at a veterinary hospital located in New Jersey. In 1994 she partnered with Dr. Marie Pileci to start The Highlands Veterinary Hospital. Since opening in 1994, the practice has grown from a 2 to 4 doctor practice.

Dr. Carol's main focus at the hospital includes general surgery, general medicine and animal behavior.

She spends her free time with her husband, two children, Golden Retriever and 2 Abyssinian cats. When she's not working or chauffeuring her son to sports events and daughter to dance lessons, she enjoys travel, cooking and spinning.

Beth Auger, DVM

Associate Veterinarian

We are excited to welcome our new Associate Veterinarian, Dr. Beth Auger. Dr. Beth lived in Sparta had worked here at the Highlands for years as our cleaner and then as a Veterinary Assistant. She then attended Kansas State University and earned her degree as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. Prior to joining us Dr. Beth had been employed at Ringwood Animal Hospital. Dr. Beth joined our team on August 10, 2015!

Dr. Nancy Shay, MVB

Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Nancy received her Bachelor of Science degree at Virginia Polytech Institute in May of 1992. At Virginia Polytech, she worked extensively with Bald Eagles. After graduation, she headed to Ireland to study veterinary medicine at University College Dublin, Veterinary School of Ireland. While there, she played an instrumental role in starting as animal welfare club called Paws in the Park. She graduated with honors as a Veterinary Surgeon in June 1997.

Upon returning to the United States, she completed the requirements for the Examination Committee of Foreign Veterinary Graduates in May 1999 and she has been a veterinarian at The Highlands ever since.

Nancy enjoys spending her time with her husband, son & daughter, family and friends. She has three dogs, "Colby", "Dax" and "Fiesta" and her cat, "Jackie". Her interests include cross-stitching, kite flying, cycling, skiing and , most recently... gardening.

Hamlin Lucena Jr., DVM

Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Hamlin received his Bachelor of Science degree from Seton Hall University in May of 2000. After graduation, he started studying veterinary medicine at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY. While at Cornell, he was actively involved in the Zoo and Wildlife Society and the hospital's wildlife clinic. He was inducted into the veterinary honor society in April of 2004, and graduated as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in May of the same year.

Dr. Hamlin's veterinary interests include general medicine, pocket pets and cardiology.

Dr. Hamlin spends most of his free time with his wife Kelly and his two sons, Landon and Levi. Their family includes two senior cats, Ori and Ella. He enjoys hiking watching movies and baking.
